Cobia are starting to show up just south of us so it shouldn’t be long til they are in range. Late May and early June is usually some of our best fishing for them. Give me a call if you are interested in trying for one. Still have some prime dates available.

April 27th
Today Stephanie Allie and Scott braved the bad forecast and were rewarded with a beautiful day. Things started off slow but we found a nice school of small rockfish while waiting on the tide to ebb. Once conditions got right we found a few nice blues but they weren’t very aggressive. Towards the end of the trip we found a school of slot sized Red Drum and got our limit of 24 to 27 inch keepers and released a few more casting light tackle. Great day with one of my favorite groups!
April 26th
Today Jim and Rosalie had a beautiful afternoon on the sound. We had some of the best action yet this spring. We caught 5 beautiful Speckled Trout from 18 to 21 inches, a Flounder, Rockfish and several nice 20 inch Bluefish. We got bit off by several other blues as well. Fun trip with some great folks!
April 14th
Warm weather is finally here and the fishing is starting to pick up. Did some scouting today and had steady action with Striped Bass but the best part was hooking in to a few really nice 20 inch Speckled Trout! The season is closed right now due to some isolated winter cold stun events but will re open June 15th. We also had some action with Striper and Bluefish last week on a very slow trip in the cold water. Water temps are way up now and the fish were much more aggressive today.
July 11th
Yesterday we had great mixed bag fishing. We started off catching tons of Trout but we only had a few keepers so we headed to the ocean for something different. We caught lots of Moonfish, Ribbonfish and one really nice Spanish Mackerel casting jigs on light tackle. Today we had good Trout fishing in the morning with a lot more keepers and lost 3 really big ones at the boat. We had a good catch so we headed to the ocean but couldn’t find yesterdays fish but we did get one Ribbon.
July 7th
This morning Barry and his boys started out trying to catch Trout but the wind was howling and we couldn’t keep a tight line with our jigs. We decided to check out the ocean and with the west wind it was fairly calm out there. We started out chumming and the Sharpnose Sharks were biting pretty good. A bit later we got on a huge school of big red Drum and sight casted to Reds up to 48 inches! Barry and his 2 sons were such troopers in the tough conditions it reminded me how lucky I am to have such great customers. Thanks guys, people like you make my job a joy!
June 23rd
Trout fishing has still been good but keeper fish have been a bit harder to come by lately. Today we had some quality fish to 22 inches and lots of small fish to keep us busy jigging with light tackle. The last few days have been the same with lots of action and a handful of nice fish for the table plus a few nice Flounder and Bluefish.
June 17th
Great Trout fishing again this morning. We landed in a wide open bite and had 17 in the box in the first 45 minutes. They quit right before we had our limit but after looking around in a couple other spots we found another school and finished up with some really nice ones up to 23 inches. We let several other keepers go too before heading in. Thanks for fishing on the Sneaky twice this week Jerry and Mike!
June 14th
Yesterday we had good fishing early for Flounder and Drum. Most of the drum were small but we got one keeper. In the afternoon we had good action with Speckled Trout. Lots of small ones with 5 keepers. This morning we had good Trout fishing with some really nice ones and one Flounder for the table. This afternoon the Trout fishing was slow so we headed to the ocean and caught Sharpnose and Spinner sharks plus one bonus gaffer Dolphin close to the beach. Glad to see the inshore Mahi showing up early this year!
Early June
Sorry for not posting much lately. Just moved in to my new house and still waiting on cable and Internet to be installed. The last few trips have been good with action from speckled trout, red drum, flounder, bluefish and sea mullet in the sound. Today we did our first shark trip of the year and we had steady action with big spinner sharks. We caught 10 with most being 70-100 pounds and had 2 bend out circle hooks. We also hooked a Cobia but the hook pulled. Thanks guys!
Mid May
Sorry for the lack of reports lately. Just bought my first home and its a fixer upper so haven’t had much time to keep up. The last few trips we caught Red Drum Stripers Flounder Bluefish Sharks and Cobia. The weather has been terrible but it looks like we have some pretty days coming up starting tomorrow. It finally calmed down this afternoon and we were able to get after the Cobia again. We caught 3 with 2 nice keepers plus 4 nice Blacktip Sharks. Looking forward to a calm rain free day tomorrow!
May 11th 12th and 16th
Fishing over the last few trips has been a bit slower due to cooler water temps and lots of wind. We finally got a break in the weather today and had good sight fishing to Red Drum plus a few trout and tons of stripers all on light tackle. Late last week we had some keeper Flounder, Trout Drum and one small Cobia. Water temps came up a bunch today and I heard of a good showing of Cobia to the south of us. Looks like warmer weather and less wind the rest of the week!
May 5th 6th and 7th
Sorry for the lack of reports lately. Between the terrible weather last week and losing my power after the big storm its been tough keeping up. We had good Puppy Drum fishing Friday plus a few keeper Trout and Flounder. Wind was howling but we made the best of it we could in some protected areas. Today Dave mason took an afternoon trip and we caught 3 nice Cobias in 3 hours sight casting before the clouds rolled in and ended it early. Dave hooked and landed the first citation Cobia on the Sneaky for the year at 56 pounds! This was the first Cobia trip for the year and it looks like we are off to an early start. Congrats Dave, great job!
April 29th
Two trips again today. This morning Brenden Tim Eric and Brian started out looking for Trout and we got on them right off the bat. We caught nice Trout to 21 inches, a 21 inch Flounder and lots of Puppy Drum with 3 keepers. After the bite slowed down we went looking for Bluefish but never found any. This afternoon Arn Brian Dean and Dave Started off Trout fishing too. Arn caught a 20 incher on his first cast but after that the Puppy Drum took over the hole. We caught a bunch but only managed two keepers and a keeper Flounder. We decided to look for the big Blues again and found them right outside the inlet. We kept 4 up to 13 pounds casting spoons. Great day for two great groups. Thanks guys!
April 27th
Today Scott Ellet brought the girls down for a trip on the Sneaky. We started off looking for Trout but couldn’t find them but we did get 3 keeper Flounder. Later on after catching some Taylor Blues in the 2 pound range we figured out why the Trout disappeared. We found 4 different schools of big Chopper Bluefish tailing on the flats in about 4 feet of water! We caught them casting spoons and Topwater plugs for about 2 and a half hours til everybody was worn out. We released a bunch and kept 9 for the smoker. 11 year old Allie caught the big fish for the day that was a 17 pound citation Blue. Way to go Allie! It was also great to finally meet Stephanie Sloan. The girls were on to it!
April 22nd
Two trips today in some very tough windy conditions. This morning Dan and Yasi started off with a really nice Trout right off the bat but things were slow so we changed locations. We found some decent action with smaller Trout, Stripers and a Flounder. We got a call from a friend that was catching Bluefish but it was just too choppy where they were so after catching a few we headed in. This afternoon Joey, Casey and Luther started off Trout fishing. We had some action but the bite was slow. We went looking in a few other spots and found a school of Red Drum chasing bait in the shallows and had great action sight fishing to them. We caught our 4 man limit of Reds up to 21 inches and released many more. Tough fishing today but both crews fished hard!
April 20th
This morning Mark Mayer (brother of Captain Greg Mayer of Fishing Frenzy fame) brought the kids out for some light tackle inshore fishing. Things started off pretty slow with chilly water but as the water temp heated up so did the fishing! We caught a few keeper Trout when the tide brought in the warmer water with one 22 inch whopper that Riley brought in. After the Trout bite slowed we found a school of nice Reds on a flat in 2 feet of water. Kevin released a 29 inch Red Drum that he caught on a Trout Rod with 10 pound test! We also caught a few Blues, small Flounder and Stripers and hooked 2 big Blues in the 10 pound range but didn’t get one to the boat. Watching these kids learn to cast and hook their own fish was an absolute joy. Definitely my favorite part of the job. Good going kids!
April 15th
Had two trips today on the Sneaky. This morning Jim and Steve started out on a hot Trout bite. We caught eight keepers from 18 to 21 inches in the first hour then the big Blues moved in and chased them off. We hooked 3 big Bluefish in the 35 inch range on Trout rods but our light Flouro leaders didn’t hold up to their teeth. Jim fought one for over 20 min and it finally bit us off right before we got it to the net. We changed locations and caught several Red Drum and some small Stripers. This afternoon David Ayda and Dylan had much slower fishing but we managed 3 really nice Trout, a Bluefish and several small Stripers. The wind really breezed up and made things tough but they fished hard. Thanks for fishing on the Sneaky Guys!
April 12th
This morning Shawn Riggle took his boys out for some light tackle fishing in the sound. We started off with a nice Bluefish and non stop action with small striped bass. Our next spot we caught lots of Speckled Trout with some nice fish up to 21″ and another nice Blue. At our last spot we caught several Puppy Drum, more Trout and Stripers. I cant say enough about how quickly the boys picked up casting and hooking their own fish. Congratulations to Ayden for catching an inshore super grand slam with 4 different species including Trout, Red Drum, Striper and Bluefish!
April 5th
This morning David Lee brought his son Ayden and his friend Matt out for a trip on the Sneaky. We only caught one Trout but it was our biggest of the year so far at 20 inches. We found some big Bluefish in the 12 to 14 pound range cruising the shallows but we could not get them to bite. Threw everything we had at them. We also caught some small Stripers. Thanks for a fun morning guys!
April 3rd
This morning John and Linda took the first trip of the spring season on the Sneaky. Things started off pretty slow with cold water temps around the inlet so we headed up into the sound and found warmer water. We caught plenty of small Stripers and a few Puppy Drum. We hooked something really big at the end of the trip but it got away as I was getting the net. No Trout but we did catch a couple nice ones yesterday fun fishing. Happy to kick off the spring season and it should only get better as the water continues to warm over the next couple weeks!
November 3rd
This morning Mark John and Jeanie started out fishing light tackle for puppy drum. We had good action first the in the morning with popping corks and bait. After the morning bite died down we decided to try for a big one. Took us a while to find the right conditions but when we did we had 2 bites and hooked one. John did a great job on his 50″ Citation Red Drum! We also caught lots of Sea Mullet, Grey Trout and croakers while we were waiting on a Drum bite. Thanks for a great morning guys!
